Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who can join?

A: Everyone deserves a place to cheer! That's why Mishawaka Youth Cheer proudly welcomes children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade from Mishawaka and the surrounding communities. You do not have to live within the School City of Mishawaka district to participate—if your child is ready to learn, grow, and have fun, we'd love to welcome them to the MYC family!

Q: Do they need experience?

A: No experience necessary! Whether your child is brand new to cheer or has cheered before, they'll be welcomed with open arms. At MYC, we learn together, grow together, and cheer together—every step of the way.

Q: Can siblings cheer?

A: Siblings are welcome! We offer a sibling discount, and you can choose whether your children are placed on the same team or on different teams.

Q: How often are practices?

A: Practice days and times vary each season. For the 2026 season, practices will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday at Heroes Park from 6:00–7:15 PM. Please note that schedules, including practice days, times, and locations, are subject to change.

Q: When and where does MYC cheer at football games?

A: We cheer for the Mishawaka Football League through Mishawaka Parks and Recreation. While Mishawaka Youth Cheer is a separate organization from Mishawaka Parks, we maintain a strong partnership with the MFL. Our games are typically held at Mishawaka High School’s Steele Stadium, where we cheer during football games.

Because we follow the MFL schedule, we must wait to receive the official game schedule from them, and locations and times are subject to change based on their coordination.

Q: What happens if it rains?

A: Because we practice and perform outdoors at our games, we are exposed to a variety of weather conditions. We will still practice in light rain or drizzle; however, practices will be canceled in the event of heavy rain, thunder, lightning, or other severe weather conditions. Mishawaka Youth Cheer will communicate any cancellations or schedule changes through all available communication channels.

Q: What if I need financial assistance?

A: If financial assistance is needed, Mishawaka Youth Cheer offers support through our Cheer Access Fund to help ensure every child has the opportunity to participate. Funding is limited and awarded based on eligibility and availability, with applications reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
